The Origin of Boba Tea

Boba tea is a refreshing drink made with black or green tea, milk, and tapioca pearls. It is also known as bubble tea or pearl milk tea. The beverage gets its name from the balls or pearls, which are intended to be sucked on like bubbles.

This sugary, energetic beverage has originated in Taichung City, Taiwan, from the 1980s. The first person to create it was Liu Han Chieh, who combined milk tea with black tapioca balls. The beverage became widely consumed by students, who bought it from street vendors for breakfast or a snack.

Since the 1990s, boba tea has been a popular beverage in East and Southeast Asia. Nowadays, as it spreads more widely over the globe, its popularity is only increasing, which is understandable given how refreshing it is! The popularity of this beverage is likely due to the unusual flavors and textures it contains; drinking hot tea with cold milk and chewy tapioca pearls is a delightful and refreshing experience for anyone.

波巴茶是一种提神饮料，由红茶或绿茶、牛奶和木薯珍珠制成。 它也被称为珍珠奶茶或珍珠奶茶。 这种饮料得名于球或珍珠，旨在像气泡一样被吸吮。

In the modern day, Boba tea has been made into various types of tea than milk tea, such as green tea and Thai tea, adding a range of flavors to increase its worldwide popularity.

One of the main companies opening at Central shopping centers is Boba tea. At Central complexes across the nation, about 30 different bubble milk tea brands are already in operation.

There are a ton of popular Boba Tea cafes in Central Chiangmai that you may visit, like KOI THE, Kamu Kamu, Fukumatcha, Nakama Cafe, Yuzu House, O-lino, and many more.
