"it's finger lickin' good" From Colonel Sanders to KFC KFC was officially founded in 1952 when Colonel Sanders sold his first franchise to Pete Harman, a friend from a restaurant management course who owned a restaurant in Utah. He was the one to coin the phrase “Kentucky Fried Chicken” as a selling gimmick which eventually became the name of the franchise. KFC is now the most popular chicken restaurant chain, still specializing in the same, original fried chicken recipe that has won over the hearts of customers for the past 70 years.
